Chartered accountants for small businesses

Numbers that stay tidy all year, not just in January.

Thyme Isle looks after the accounts, tax and payroll for owner-managed businesses, landlords and the self-employed — with a fixed monthly fee and one accountant who knows your file.

Switching part-way through a year is normal. We collect the records from your previous accountant and pick up where they left off.

  • A named accountantThe same person each time, not a shared inbox.
  • Cloud bookkeepingWe work in the software you already use, or set one up.

Services

The everyday accounting a small business actually needs

Most clients take the whole set as one monthly arrangement. You can also pick a single piece if that is all that is missing.

Year-end accounts

Statutory accounts and the corporation tax return, prepared, explained and filed in good time.

Self assessment

Personal tax returns for directors, sole traders and landlords, with the figure to pay confirmed early.

VAT returns

Scheme choice, quarterly returns and digital record keeping handled from your bookkeeping data.

Payroll & pensions

Monthly payroll runs, payslips, pension submissions and starter or leaver paperwork.

Bookkeeping

Bank feeds reconciled and receipts filed each month, so the year-end is a review rather than a rescue.

Planning & advice

Salary and dividend planning, cash-flow forecasts and a sense check before big decisions.

How it works

Three steps from first message to a quiet year-end

No long onboarding project. Most new clients are set up within a fortnight of the first conversation.

  1. 01

A look at where you are

We talk through the business, your records and any deadlines already in view, then send a fixed fee for the work involved.

  2. 02

    A tidy starting point

We collect records from your previous accountant, square off the opening figures and agree who does what each month.

  3. 03

    A steady rhythm

Bookkeeping and filings run to a schedule, with a short review before each deadline so nothing arrives as a surprise.

The practice

A small firm, deliberately

Thyme Isle is a compact practice built around long client relationships. We keep the list short enough that your accountant recognises your business from memory rather than from a file note.

Work happens over video calls, email and shared cloud software, so it makes no difference where you are based. Papers can still be posted if that suits you better.

  • Plain-English explanations of every figure we file for you.
  • Questions answered inside the monthly fee, not billed by the minute.
  • Records kept current through the year, so tax bills are known in advance.

Questions

Answered before you ask

The five things new clients raise most often in a first conversation.

Can I switch accountants mid-year?

Yes. We write to your current accountant for the handover records, confirm the opening balances and continue from there. You do not need to wait for a year-end, and you do not need to have the conversation yourself.

How are fees worked out?

We quote a fixed monthly amount based on the services you need, how many transactions run through the business and whether payroll is involved. The figure is agreed in writing before any work starts and is reviewed once a year.

Which software do you work in?

We work in the main cloud bookkeeping packages and are happy to stay in whichever one you already use. If you are still on spreadsheets, we will set something up and show you the handful of tasks that stay on your side.

What happens near a filing deadline?

Deadlines are diarised when you join and we chase the outstanding items from our side. You get a draft to review, a clear note of anything payable and a confirmation once the submission has gone through.

Do we need to meet in person?

Not usually. Most of our clients work with us entirely over video calls, email and shared software. If you prefer a face-to-face review once a year, we can arrange one.

Tell us about the business

A few lines is enough to start. We will reply with the questions we need answered and, once we have those, a fixed fee.

  • No obligation and no charge for the first conversation.
  • We will say plainly if we are not the right fit for you.

We use what you send here only to answer your enquiry.
